Welcome to the home of the New Hampshire Troopers Association. It is our mission to represent the non-commissioned men and women of the New Hampshire State Police. The NHTA was formed in 1990 with the purpose of ensuring the best possible working conditions for the Troopers that serve New Hampshire. It is also our goal to give back to the community which we serve. The NHTA has done this through scholarship programs; assistance to the families of fallen police officers; and assistance to charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Operation Santa Clause, and the Special Olympics.
New Hampshire Troopers work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through out New Hampshire in order to protect the State's citizens. Since 1937, Troopers have dedicated themselves to providing the highest degree of law enforcement service through out the state, while maintaining the traditions of fairness, professionalism, and integrity. The New Hampshire State Police is the only law enforcement agency in the state to provide such a wide array of special services, which includes an Explosives Disposal Unit, an Aviation Unit, Narcotics Investigations, Major Crime Investigations, Technical Accident Reconstruction (TAR), a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Crisis Negotiators, a Special Events Response Team (SERT), a Motorcycle Unit, DARE Officers, a Drill Team, Drug Recognition Experts, and a Canine Unit. We encourage you to visit the New Hampshire State Police website to learn more about all of the special services that the State Police provides.
In Remembrance

Of Trooper James S. Noyes.
On October 3, 1994 the New Hampshire State Police SWAT team responded to Gilford for a despondent man who had barricaded himself inside his home. The subject was distraught about the recent death of his wife and was threatening suicide. Sgt. Noyes talked to the man through a window much of the night in order to attempt a peaceful resolution. Negotiations seemed to go well as the man surrendered several guns. The man however soon became despondent again and appeared close to shooting himself. Sgt. Noyes attempted to place a percussion grenade through an open window so that other Troopers could enter the residence and end the standoff. Sadly the man opened fire on Sgt. Noyes striking him under his arm, bypassing his bullet proof vest. The man then committed suicide. On November 16, 1995 Sgt. Noyes was posthumously awarded the Medal of Valor for his bravery, which was presented to his wife Debra.

On Saturday evening, July 26, 2008, State and local police as well as the Western New Hampshire Special Operations Unit responded to a residence to effectuate a search warrant and arrest warrants. While at the scene, the police encountered Anthony Jarvis (age 53) in his residence. The police determined that Jarvis was a felon and learned information that he had a weapon. When Jarvis would not comply with police orders to exit his residence, the police entered. Upon entering, shots were fired injuring a State Trooper. Jarvis was subsequently found deceased. The investigation is ongoing. The State Trooper is recovering from non-life threatening injuries.

It has been brought to our attention that various groups are fundraising throughout the state which falsely claim to be, or to represent the New Hampshire Troopers Association. It is extremely disturbing to learn that because of such misrepresentations, many people have lent their financial support to these organizations. In order to help prevent this from happening in the future, we have added a fundraising section to our website. Here you will be able to find out what type of fundraising activities the NHTA
conducts, organizations which are NOT affiliated with the New Hampshire Troopers Association, as well as who to contact to verify fundraising activities.
The New Hampshire State Police has begun to issue low profile Dodge Chargers. Make sure that you drive carefully so that you don't see these new vehicles in your mirror.
