Welcome to the home of the New Hampshire Troopers Association. It is our mission to represent the non-commissioned men and women of the New Hampshire State Police. The NHTA was formed in 1990 with the purpose of ensuring the best possible working conditions for the Troopers that serve New Hampshire. It is also our goal to give back to the community which we serve. The NHTA has done this through scholarship programs; assistance to the families of fallen police officers; and assistance to charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Operation Santa Clause, and the Special Olympics.
New Hampshire Troopers work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through out New Hampshire in order to protect the State's citizens. Since 1937, Troopers have dedicated themselves to providing the highest degree of law enforcement service through out the state, while maintaining the traditions of fairness, professionalism, and integrity. The New Hampshire State Police is the only law enforcement agency in the state to provide such a wide array of special services, which includes an Explosives Disposal Unit, an Aviation Unit, Narcotics Investigations, Major Crime Investigations, Technical Accident Reconstruction (TAR), a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Crisis Negotiators, a Special Events Response Team (SERT), a Motorcycle Unit, DARE Officers, a Drill Team, Drug Recognition Experts, and a Canine Unit. We encourage you to visit the New Hampshire State Police website to learn more about all of the special services that the State Police provides.

To the right is Trooper Sturgis, conducting speed enforcement. In honor of the New Hampshire State Police's 70th Anniversary we will continue to add classic photographs from our archives. Be sure to check back often to see more photos from the State Police's past.
The New Hampshire State Police has just completed redesigning their website. They have a lot of new information detailing all of the specialized services that Troopers provide. You may also find answers to commonly asked questions as well as recruiting information for the position of a Trooper.
It has been brought to our attention that various groups are fundraising throughout the state which falsely claim to be, or to represent the New Hampshire Troopers Association. It is extremely disturbing to learn that because of such misrepresentations, many people have lent their financial support to these organizations. In order to help prevent this from happening in the future, we have added a fundraising section to our website. Here you will be able to find out what type of fundraising activities the NHTA conducts,
organizations which are NOT affiliated with the New Hampshire Troopers Association, as well as who to contact to verify fundraising activities.
The New Hampshire State Police has begun to issue low profile Dodge Chargers. Make sure that you drive carefully so that you don't see these new vehicles in your mirror.
In Remembrance

Of those that we have lost in the past year.
It is with deep sadness that the New Hampshire Troopers Association has learned of the passing of Sgt. Gerald "Jerry" Berry, 47 years of age, after a battle with cancer. Sgt. Berry joined the New Hampshire State Police in 1985 and was stationed in Troop
F. He became an active volunteer member of the Lancaster Fire Department and worked his way up through the ranks to become the assistant chief. Sgt. Berry spent much of his career with the State Police as a member of the Motorcycle Unit. He was ultimately promoted to Sergeant in the Troop F area and also served as the Motorcycle Unit Commander. Sgt. Berry retired from the New Hampshire State Police on July 1, 2007. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sgt. Berry's family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to:
Donations are to be placed in trust for his son Daniel and to create a scholarship fund for a Coos County student wishing to pursue a career in the fire service.
The New Hampshire Troopers Association is deeply saddened to learn that Cpl. Bruce McKay of the Franconia Police Department was shot and killed in the line of duty. At approximately 6:30 pm on May 11, 2007, Cpl. McKay stopped a motor vehicle for speeding. The driver fled the area before he was forced to stop by Cpl. McKay. The suspect had been convicted of resisting arrest and assaulting Cpl. McKay in 2003. Cpl McKay attempted to use pepper spray in order to subdue the suspect. The suspect then shot Cpl. McKay four times. Cpl. McKay collapsed in the roadway, where the suspect drove his vehicle over him. Gerald W. Floyd and Gerald P. Floyd were in their vehicle, witnessed the incident, and stopped to assist. Gerald P. Floyd used Cpl McKay's police radio to call for assistance while his father Gerald W. Floyd retrieved Cpl. McKay's weapon and fatally shot the suspect when he would not lower his gun.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Cpl. McKay. As the citizens of New Hampshire mourn the loss of another New Hampshire police officer, our entire membership extends our deepest sympathy to our Brothers and Sisters of the Franconia Police Department. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Gerald W. Floyd and Gerald P. Floyd for coming to the assistance of Cpl. McKay during his time of need. Donations can be made at:
