The New Hampshire State Police is seeking dedicated individuals interested in a challenging career in law enforcement. The Division of State Police is divided into six troop stations, the Bureau of Enforcement and a number of specialized units, providing ample diversity and opportunity for advancement and relocation throughout the state.

Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming testing process, scheduled to begin in September 2000. Minimum qualifications include completion of high school, GED or its equivalent plus 60 credit hours from a recognized college with a major field of study preferable in criminal justice or the equivalent, or two years of full-time employment as a certified police officer in a recognized jurisdiction or two years of experience in the military on full-time active duty with an honorable discharge. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age by the closing date for application submittal established on the current recruitment announcement. Applicants must have at least 20/40 uncorrected vision in each eye with corrected vision to 20/20 and normal color perception; must possess normal hearing without a hearing aid.

Residency is not required until after you have been enlisted.

Applicants must successfully participate in a written examination (NH Full-Time Certified Officers do not have to take the Written Exam) and structured interviews measuring possession of essential knowledge, skills, and abilities. Applicants must also be able to pass a physical qualification test designed to measure their ability to perform physically demanding tasks encountered in job performance. Upon successful completion of these phases, selected applicants will undergo a thorough background investigation as well as a polygraph examination.

Starting salary is $29,203 (plus limited meals & lodging expenses), and after successfully completing the one year probationary period the salary range becomes $34,396 to $40,591, all with an excellent benefits package, which includes medical, dental and retirement plan.
